The Center for Community Engagement is founded upon the assumption that there is a public purpose for higher education. As such, we strive to facilitate experiences inside and out of the classroom where faculty, staff, students, and community members can come together around meaningful projects that advance community wellbeing.
Ways in which the CCE supports the ecosystem of community engagement in teaching and learning include:
- Working with CITL to hold faculty development workshops for Community-Engaged Teaching & Learning
- One-on-one support for faculty designing meaningful, reciprocal service-learning experiences
- Teaching courses that are open to all students – SOAN 197: Values and Ethics of Community-Engaged Research and SOC 373: Purposeful Curiosity – to develop skills and capacity for community engagement
