Capacity Building

  • Host workshops and guest speakers to cultivate talent in community-engaged teaching, learning, and research among our community
  • Create materials that can be woven into course
  • Teach courses like HMS/SOAN 197: Values and Ethics of Community-Engaged Research and SOC 373: Purposeful Curiosity to integrate critical inquiry, civic and community engagement, and ethical practices of engaged learning and research throughout Lehigh

Research

Strategic Planning

  • Work in conjunction with the Director, Community Service Office and AVP, Public & Regional Affairs as the three central community engagement officers to ensure all community engagement endeavors are high-quality, coordinated, and reciprocal
  • Connect with staff, faculty, community partners, and students in order to plan community-engaged experiences from research to service-learning to community projects

Advocacy and Support

  •  Serve on committees such as the Council on Equity and Community and the Mountaintop Faculty Steering Committee to ensure that community engagement is a priority of all that we do at Lehigh
  • Create policies and processes to help ensure consistency and ethical behavior in our work with the community
  • Track data and stories of exceptional community-engaged work in order to highlight, connect, and acknowledge high-quality projects and distinctions such as Carnegie Classification
